Great hole in the wall Latin breakfast. This was a great find! Three of us had three different breakfasts:!Breakfast Super Burrito, Cuban Breakfast & traditional American Breakfast. But the forth guy got the Cuban sandwich and it was amazing-ness!!! Highly recommend giving this place a shot.

If you like Cuban food try to get here. We had breakfast before heading out of town. You can get breakfast or lunch anytime. Cuban coffee hot and sweet. I can't eat the bread but everyone else in did and said it was good. Eggs and chorizo, Cuban sandwich and pastries were good. Only disappointment is they are not open weekends.

Don't know why anyone who has been there would not rate this place 5 big stars! We actually went there looking for skin so soft to counter the awful no seeums. They sell this stuff that seems elusive at best in a place where if you are outside you better have good insect repellant! So enough about that! The Cuban food here is amazing, the help, helpful, and it is Ft.Pierce's best kept secret. We had a Cuban while we were there and it just melted in your mouth. We had Cuban's before but not as good as here.while we were there a few cops came in and they told us there is no better Cuban in Ft.Pierce, they were right. We went back next day for breakfast I had a super burrito and wife had an omelet. Again to DIE FOR, they were amazing,so we will go back tomorrow on our last day here and eat again, don't know if I can wait a whole year to eat here. The place is like a cafeteria, but the food is great, and did I mention they also have a post office substation in the place as well! Go there and try it you won't be sorry and you will go back! The only problem is they close at 5PM and are not open on Saturday or Sunday so go early eat a lot and go back, they are great folks and deserve your support.

Wonderful Cuban lunch spot. I ordered the Roasted Pork Chunks with black beans, yellow rice, and sweet plantain for $8.95 (lunch special price). The pork had a great sear, almost as crispy as skin, but not quite. The pork inside was tender. Served with the rice and beans, and grilled onion and lime wedge, it was what Cuban food should be about! The plantain had a nice black char, very sweet, and perfect!!! This is my new favorite place for lunch in Ft Pierce! Would have given a five if lunch was served with pressed Cuban bread.

I see a review from Lourdes regarding she did not like her sandwich she received at Mervis Café and the pork that was used on her sandwich being pressed and not what she expected. So sorry for your sandwich not to be to your liking. I am sure all Cuban Sandwiches are not the same from restaurant to restaurant and region to region (as you know there is a huge difference with Chinese food from Boston, where your from and other parts of the US). It's too bad you wouldn't have just approached the owners, Ivel and Ivelisse, who I am sure would have been more than happy to help you quite possibly with another item or make your experience a satisfactory one in some way as they are super nice people. I am a sales person from a major food distributor and can assure you (as I sell them their product) that this is a fresh pork butt to which Mervis Café roasts daily. And you say you were heading to Miami for a "Good" Cuban sandwich, being in the food business, I hate to break the news to you but most of the Cuban restaurants there indeed are using a pre-cooked pork product that is formed into a long log for easy slicing. Sometimes I guess people eat the substitute for so long, they are not used to eating the genuine product. I eat at Mervis frequently and LOVE their food and coffee and am in very frequently. I am thankful they are there.

Awesome little hole in the wall! I've never heard of Mervins but after getting the chorizo and Swiss sandwich I will definitely go back! The sandwiches arent very expensive maybe 4-6$, but the sandwiches are a good size (I could only eat half of mine). We also ordered some crispy plantains which were to die for! Usually I dont like plantains unless with ketchup but these were the best I've ever had. And the sauce that came with them was a perfect complement. Either way I will return!! P.s. and yes half of the store is a post office :-)

Solid Spanish cuisine located a few blocks away from downtown Fort Pierce. You may miss it if you're coming from US1. Parking can be a hassle if it's busy. It shares space with a post office which is odd when you first walk in, but there's plenty of seating toward the back should you eat there. We did takeout however. It's more of breakfast / lunch restaurant and closes kind of early. Nice selection of sandwiches and other dishes. I had the Cuban and mariquitas. It was great. But the best Cuban I had, no. I think the ones at the Cuban Sandwich in Melbourne are much better.

I had a Jamaican hamburger. My wife had steak and rice. Food was great. Price was great too. I wish they were open for supper. Can't wait to go back.

How many people can say they went to Ft. Pierce to work for a day. It was bright and early when I left Kissimmee. I arrived at Fort Pierce around 8 AM and was looking for a local place to eat near my assignment. The reviews mentioned that this was a very nice Cuban Café. I had to try it for myself. They have been in this location for 13 years. The owner knew immediately I was not from there. A lot of locals come here for their sandwiches and coffee. Egg, Ham, and Cheese Sandwich. I wasn't sure what to get and they suggested this sandwich. It was very good. Made on Cuban bread. Cafe con Leche. Very nice coffee. I was wired for a bit after drinking this. Overall, very good customer service. It's located inside a post office so it seems strange at first. Again, many locals come to get their food here. Everybody around this area knows about this place. It's definitely a must try.

Great food and good prices, it's open layout and great staff if you are in the area you should try this Cuban restaurant.

This place is awesome for those who can appreciate it. You'll see retired folks, policemen, office people and post office customers all enjoying simple, American & Latin-American breakfast sandwiches. I had a Palomilla steak sandwich for almost $7 and I really enjoyed it. I'll come back if I'm ever in town again.

The only reason this doesn't get 5/5 is because of the odd setting. Aside from that, it's my first stop whenever I come back to Ft Pierce. The pork is amazing and there is nothing better than a fresh cafe con leche. Also don't forget about those fresh fried marequitas and fresh baked guava pastries. Closest Cuban food outside of (little) Havana.

I yelped this page driving from Orlando to Miami. Absolutely THE BEST CUBAN FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD!!! I had the pork, which was the most delicious and flavor-full cuban dish ever!! So yummy.... I would go back to Florida just to experience this restaurant again : )

Truly authentic. Simple Cubana fare! Very friendly and attentive staff. Beware, not much to look at, but that is part of the charm!

This place is amazing. Their Cuban breakfast is delicious. Included are two eggs cooked your way, toast, plantains and croquetas. Best part other than they are delicious? Only $5! Everything is tasty I've had their croqueta sandwich, pastries and steak all perfect. This has a true Cuban cafeteria vibe. The owner is always at the counter and super helpful. Please go! The only thing I wish was that they were open 24 hours!

Place looks like a hole in the wall.. but the food is pretty awesome and they even have a post office inside across from the restaurant. Highly recommend this spot!

Authentic Cuban. Great Cuban sandwiches and side dishes. Unique and quirky setting with a post office near the dining room. It's basically an eat in deli in a seedy part of town but the food is worth it.

I eat lunch here frequently. The Cuban sandwich is the real deal. They usually have specials daily. I have yet to be dissapointed on my many lunch visits here. Don't let the appearance or the location fool you. I am Cuban, and this is very good Cuban food. I think they are only open weekdays for lunch, but maybe this will change. Enjoy !

I had a cuban sandwich here. It was the first time I ate there. It was okay. It didn't wow me with flavor like I thought it would. I would give it a second chance though.

Good food for a good price! But a good mix! Cuban and American food. Fresh ingredients .. I am here for work and would go back while here.

Love the Cuban-style food here - we always stop in for lunch when we're visiting FP in the summer - a must-have meal at great prices!

Good food, mix of Cuban, and other popular foods. All prepared when you ask for it, so it is always fresh. Very friendly staff. Atmosphere is a bit like a cafeteria, but the food more than makes up for it. There is a US Postoffice located in the same place, not next door, but inside the restaurant. Cost for lunch is very reasonable.

The Cuban Sandwich was AMAZING. Quite possibly one of the best I have EVER had. Born and raised in South Florida I have gone to Miami just to get a Cuban Sandwich and this one was a serious contender. As I was parking I was a bit skeptical, I have read some of the other reviews, and I was a bit on the fence about giving it a go and I was so, so, so, glad I did. (Seriously, I want another one right now - hang tight I need to wipe off the drool!) There a few things going on inside this building. The restaurant is in the right and the seating is towards the back - however, on the left inside side there's a full service post office and a few shelves selling Avon(?) products and a few other things. It was interesting and took a second to process all that was going on. But I was definitely in the right place. Once I placed my order I was given my drink cup and was told they would bring it out to me when it was ready. I got my drink and had a seat. About 5 minutes later the nice lady cook brought out my order. Let me just tell you. The bread was buttered and pressed beautifully. It was crisp but not rock hard, the inside of the bread you could tell was still soft and warm with a nice chew to it. It had the perfect amount of mustard, not too much so it was oozing, and not too little that you had to question whether or not there was any mustard on it. And again, the perfect amount of pickles. The cheese was warm and melted and pulled ever so slightly when you bit into it. The porks - delicious. Absolutely delicious. The ham was so nice and thin and salty sweet happiness and the roast pork melted in your mouth and was so flavorful. I can't say enough good things about this sandwich. The fries were piping hot and crispy on the outside and soft pillowy potato deliciousness on the inside. I can't wait to come back and try more foods!

I moved to Florida and had seen many signs advertising Cuban sandwiches. Luckily, a friend brought me here to try my first Cuban sandwich and I have been hooked ever since. They have other good sandwiches here too.

Here from Boston, dying for a Cuban sandwich and found high reviews for this place. Picked up the sandwich with high anticipation only to find they don't use lechon!! What, no real pork?!?!? They use some pressed meat that is suppose to pass!!! What???? Totally bummed out and had to get rid of mystery whatever and just eat the ham!! Bummer! False advertisement for a Cuban. Have to go to Miami to get the real thing???

Been hearing about this place for years, but they've been closed every time I've been here. They're only open thru lunch, aka prime fishing time. From the outside and the hours, (sharing space w/ the downtown post office) you'd think it was just a lunch counter, but there's actually seating for a pretty big crowd; I hear they need it during lunch. All Cuban favs are on the menu; the owner guaranteed it was authentic, and they've been serving it for ages. Best Cuban sammy I've had in a long time. I'll be going back for the steak and pork tenderloin sammies later this week.
